Cailean Cooney is Assistant Professor / OER Librarian at New York City College of Technology, and coordinates the library’s Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative, and assessment.

Cailean is interested in the intersection of critical pedagogy and OERs, the impact of OERs on the student experience, and surfacing the political, economic, and social factors relevant to the OER movement in U.S. higher education.

Prior to joining City Tech, she worked at NYU’s division of Knowledge Access and Resource Management Services, specializing in metadata and collection management. She holds a MLIS from Pratt Institute, and an MA in Liberal Studies from the Graduate Center, with a concentration in digital humanities, and interactive technology and pedagogy.
